This year, we held a drawing contest for children aged 6 to 10, with book vouchers awarded as prizes. Participants were invited to draw something associated with light that reflected the theme of the book “Lumis delight”, which we were promoting and which was available as a sample to take home from our booth. The lucky winners whose drawings were selected as the best will be notified by email.
Our graduate students also helped interested participants build their own smarthphone spectrometers. This hands-on activity was particularly memorable for older children and adults, as it required some DIY skills and offered a fun opportunity to explore light in a practical way.
In addition to these activities, we provided interested visitors of all ages with information about our network and the use of light in our chemistry. Anyone who wanted to learn more could take our brochures home with them.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this day such a successful and enjoyable experience.
